15oz Cotton Canvas

We only use the best quality cottons, providing a very good support for artwork. SPI supplies premium grade artists' canvas of 15oz weights utilise a twin thread construction. This combined with a square weave, offers the most stable support able to meet the demands of humidity and temperature fluctuations, stretches well and looks great. Our 15oz artist quality unprimed is a robust and hard working canvas that is suitable for oil and acrylic painting. This canvas is suitable for large format stretching as it's thick weave means it will not lose integrity. This canvas is for the heavy duty painter with exacting and demanding technical requirements

Choosing a Stretcher Profile Bar

We provide bracing slots on all sizes from 48” (one side) & above.

Profile 1 - Round Edge Bar

Our standard heavy duty Profile 1 - Round Edge Bar features a 38mm (1.49") outer side with slight rounded top edge. Renown for its optimum strength, our Profile 1 Bars are made from the best European re-forested timber, kiln dried and knot-free pine. The Profile 1 Bar has been finger spliced - this is a method of bonding pieces of lumber together to form a very long, straight bar, that actually makes it a stronger support for your canvas. Each Bar's profile has a 1/3" rise to prevent sagging and each bar is slightly rounded at the top edge, which is ideal for accomodating various canvas and linen weights.

Profile 2 - PQ Bar

PQ Bars are made from carefully selected, knot-free, kiln-dried pine. PQ bars are especially suited to non-framed work because of their wide profile.

Profile 3 - Sharp Edge Bar

Our customised Sharp Edge Bar features a 38mm (1.49") outer side but unlike our Profile 1 bar's rounded top edge, the Sharp Edge Bar features a square edge for a clean, sharp edge after stretching. Sharp Edge Bars are made from the best European re-forested timber, kiln dried and knot-free pine. The Sharp Edge Bar has been finger spliced - this is a method of bonding pieces of lumber together to form a very long, straight bar, that actually makes it a stronger support for your canvas. Each Sharp Edge Bar's profile has a 1/3" rise to prevent sagging and each bar is squared at the top edge for a clean, sharp edge after stretching.
