10oz Cotton Canvas

10oz double primed artist quality canvas has a 1x2 single weave. A standard and reliable choice for artists and students who may be looking for a mid weight but strong canvas for olis and acrylics. Easy to stretch, sturdy and durable. Canvas of this weight is better for smaller artworks becasue typically it is a 2:1 weave. This means the fabric is twice as strong in one direction as the other so not a totally stable support.

Choosing a Stretcher Profile Bar

Profile 1 - Round Edge Bar

Our standard heavy duty Profile 1 - Round Edge Bar features a 38mm (1.49") outer side with slight rounded top edge. Renown for its optimum strength, our Profile 1 Bars are made from the best European re-forested timber, kiln dried and knot-free pine. The Profile 1 Bar has been finger spliced - this is a method of bonding pieces of lumber together to form a very long, straight bar, that actually makes it a stronger support for your canvas. Each Bar's profile has a 1/3" rise to prevent sagging and each bar is slightly rounded at the top edge, which is ideal for accomodating various canvas and linen weights.

Profile 2 - PQ Bar

PQ Bars are made from carefully selected, knot-free, kiln-dried pine. PQ bars are especially suited to non-framed work because of their wide profile.

Profile 3 - Sharp Edge Bar

Our customised Sharp Edge Bar features a 38mm (1.49") outer side but unlike our Profile 1 bar's rounded top edge, the Sharp Edge Bar features a square edge for a clean, sharp edge after stretching. Sharp Edge Bars are made from the best European re-forested timber, kiln dried and knot-free pine. The Sharp Edge Bar has been finger spliced - this is a method of bonding pieces of lumber together to form a very long, straight bar, that actually makes it a stronger support for your canvas. Each Sharp Edge Bar's profile has a 1/3" rise to prevent sagging and each bar is squared at the top edge for a clean, sharp edge after stretching.
